When we deploy our application on to WAS (Websphere Application Server 5.1.2), even before the complete application boots up MDB starts processing messages available on a Queue (external MQ).
This is giving exception as application is not available to process the messages.

I found following tag in Weblogic-application.xml, which makes sure that MDB will not start it's activity before complete bootup of application.
start-mdbs-with-application - set to false

Do we have equivalent tag or ways to set up MDB start up time in WAS,
any information would be appreciated.

What you can do in WAS is to not start the MDBs automatically but bring up the config console and start them manually. However we have allways started them automatically and have had mimimal problems with that.

What does your MDB do that does not have the resource available at MDB start up?

MDB on message looks up for a session bean.
We don't have control over console to do the manipulation. So any work around through deployment would be helpful.

How about changing the timeout for the lookup of the session bean?
