There is a requirement to avoid using MQ altogether(cust costs) and have msgflows on a v6 broker ( on Solaris) GET input data from a DB2 database on mainframe and process it and send it to the other end application via HTTP.
I think broker needs a ODBC connection to access any database. But I am not sure if we can access a mainframe database using ODBC.
My question is: Can we access a DB2 database residing on a mainframe from a msgflow running on Solaris ?
If anyone has done this earlier please advise.
Please don't post what you think might work. I want to know if it works for sure.

How does doing that remove the requirement for MQ? The broker MUST have a local qmgr for its operation (deployment, control, local state storage &c...) _________________ -wayne
You can use a DB2 client to access a mainframe database.
You will need assistance from your mainframe database administrator to get this client configured properly. Then once the mainframe database is catalogued into the client configuration, it will be available as an ODBC datasource. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general.
