Hi,
I have a 'server', runing with MQSeries 5.2, MQ Integrator and DB2. The machine is a Pentium II 450MHz with 640 Mb RAM and Windows 2000 Professional.
My question is if you thinks it must work fine. We have some clients (Pentium II 300MHz with 128 Mb RAM and Windows 2000 Professional), with the Control Center of MQ Integrator, and runs very slow. And some times, MQSeries gets down.
What would be the best option:
- Ungrade the server
- Distribute the software (DB, MQSeries, ...)
Thanks. |

Hmm... Normally I'd say that machine is fine for just MQSeries, but if you are running WMQI and DB2 on it as well, I think you might want to consider upgrading it. All 3 products are very resource intensive. For instance, on unix machines, you need to upgrade the kernel parameters to run any one of those products, and to run all three, I'd probably up the relevant kernel parameters to the hard limit... _________________ Brandon Duncan

Well for every MQSI Broker execution group you will need > 30mb of ram, depending on how many message flows you have, we have a small number and we are about 60mb per execution group. This does not include the other parts of MQSI. MQSeries I find needs at least about 50mb of ram. DB2 Iam not sure about but the min is 256mb.
Basicaly I wouldnt run your MQSI on anything less than 1gb especially if you are also running the config mangaer from it.
Clients will need at least 256mb (still slow though) 512mb is the recommended. _________________ Jeff
