I am wondering if it would be possible to install the rpm packages from the fix pac without first installing the ones from the CD.

On a new install

rather than
• rpm –ivh MQSeriesRuntime-6.0.0-0.i386.rpm
• rpm –ivh MQSeriesSDK-6.0.0-0.i386.rpm
• rpm –ivh MQSeriesServer-6.0.0-0.i386.rpm

followed by
• rpm –ivh MQSeriesRuntime-U805235-6.0.1-1.i386.rpm
• rpm –ivh MQSeriesSDK-U805235-6.0.1-1.i386.rpm
• rpm –ivh MQSeriesServer-U805235-6.0.1-1.i386.rpm

Just start with
• rpm –ivh MQSeriesRuntime-U805235-6.0.1-1.i386.rpm
• rpm –ivh MQSeriesSDK-U805235-6.0.1-1.i386.rpm
• rpm –ivh MQSeriesServer-U805235-6.0.1-1.i386.rpm

Any idea if this might work?

I don't doubt it.
I know it won't work.

I figured it would not work. The reason I asked is that the first time I did it I installed the IBMJava2 package from the CD. When I upgraded to the Fix pac i had to uninstall that IBMJava2 package before I could install the one from the fix pac. So now I leave that package for the fix pac install only. That got me wondering about the rest. It would be nice for a new install if you did not have to install all the packages twice, the IES30 package takes some time to load.

Thanks!

Hi yes - I too have recently installed MQ V6 on Linux (Suse).

Although CSDs are cumulative, they do need the 'base' part.

I'm curious why you had to de-install the IBM SDK when adding the fixpak.

Regards ... Ruud

Sorry for the late reply -

Because it is not realy a fix pac, but a new SDK. The documentation in the fix is prety clear on this, but you don't see that until after the fact.
