Hi,
One of our application queues is building up possibly because of some problem in the code. The strange thing is even after the queue clears off, /var/mqm shows 100% full and that is bacause the File for the above mentioned queue shows 100% full. After the queue clears off,why should the file system still show as full.Messages are Non persistent -MQ V5.3 CSD 11 on AIX.Any clues?

Thanks

The queue file only gets "cleared" during certain internal processing. I don't remember the entire details - there has been some discussion before. You might be able to find it with some searching.

You can stop and start the queue manager, and that will clear the queue file.

Or you can wait a few hours.

In my experience, you can "force" the queue to recover the white space in the queue file by issuing the "clearq" command. The obstacle, of course, is that you can only use clearq if you have no ipprocs or opprocs on the queue.

once you free up the space, perhaps you should consider setting max message length and max messages on the queue.
