Hi,
We have a situation where by our current v5.3 MQ server is running on Windows 2003. Our clients are also using v5.3 MQ client software but are running on NT4 OS.
Would it be possible for me to continue using our v5.3 MQ client software to connect to a v6.0 MQ server? The reason I ask is that the v6.0 MQ client software require Win2000 as a minimum and we can't upgrade our NT4 clients yet (problem with running some old 3rd party software on anything higher than NT4).
Our MQ setup is quite simple, no SSL connections and no clusters (MQ or otherwise).
Any help greatly appreciated.

You can mix and match the clients with the servers. They don't all have to be at the same version. |

Not entirely correct, refer to APAR IY67239. IBM managed to insert code in the server software to block certain client connections. In our case we were running a QMgr at v530.12 and the JMS client of v530.6 |

Hi,
I have a related question: we have a Citrix box (but I don't think that's important to the question) running applications that need 5.2 client software and refuse to update to 5.3. But our apps need 5.3 (.net). So my question that I just cannot seem to get a definitive answer on is will 5.2 and 5.3 client software run side-by-side without any problems.
Thank you |

You can not install two different versions of the MQ client on the same machine "side by side".
You can not install one version of MQ Server and a different version of MQ Client on the same machine.
You can not install two versions of MQ Server on the same machine.
You can install the same version of MQ Server and MQ Client on the same machine. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
