Queue Manager is running on iSeries (AS/400). MQ is V6.0

I know for a native/simple MQ Client I need to have either

1. The same User Id as the Windows login to exist on the AS/400.
2. Have some way of passing a User Id in the initial connection request (no need to go into details here).

My question is when a Java client connects without specifying a user id and password it is not rejected by OAM on the AS/400. My understanding is that this is happening since the MCA is running under MQM on the AS/400 and this Java client picks up MQM as the user id.

Is the above understanding correct?

Is there any way, other than using security exits on the channels, to check for user id AND password for all connection requests on a particular channel?

I already know of SSL and the possibility of using security exits but before I recommend SSL or sec. exits I just want to make sure there is no simple trick I might be missing as the only requirement at this stage is user id and password authentication.

TIA
Hassan

There is a setting that controls what happens when a NULL or blank user id is passed in.

I forget what it is. Hopefully someone will be along. There are some consequences of changing it - again I forget what.

Anyone ??

I think it might be upto a user exit, since even with OAM we can only check the user id and not the password.
