Hi
Are there any 'rules' for what is and what is not appropriate for posting in any given forum?
I ask because I seem to have had a reply to a post deleted and I am just wondering why? |

The way I moderate:
1. Move the post to appropriate forum
2. Delete duplicate posts
3. Delete spam
4. If there is a duplicate post and has been answered in different places, try to move the replies to one post.
When was your reply deleted. Maybe it was an accident by some moderator.
Also, this morning I had seen problem with the site for over an hour or so. Maybe it was because of the load and number of users on the site. That might be another reason.
That brings up another question on whether Brandon is trying to upgrade the site to a bigger server, if yes, does he have enough funds to do that or else if he needs more donations/sponsorors. |

I had not noticed any issues related to the load on the site. I believe I have plenty of overhead with my existing server to handle the number of users we typically get. _________________ Brandon Duncan

I have seen this message saying something like
"Could not connect to database, phpBB2 critical error", on thursday, friday and today, in between 9-30 to 10-30 Central time. |

For what it's worth, I've been getting the same message word for word intermittantly over the last few days. I work in GMT (or BST at the moment) so Lord knows when it was
Not seen it persist much past 10 mins. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Sorry, the problems were related to my MySQL database being upgrading from version 3 to 4... _________________ Brandon Duncan

Bradon -
There are ongoing availability issues (I realize the site has to be up for you to see this!) - are you still having issues with the mySQL upgrade?
Is there something we can do to help? _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Really? Is it just slowness?
And is the slowness limited to phpBB pages (i.e., pages which hit the database), or even static pages like the main www.mqseries.net url? _________________ Brandon Duncan

No.
There were several periods of complete unavailablility lasting for hours at a time. The lack of availability seemed to come in two flavors - spinning waiting for the page to load, and a strange error message that did not appear to be one that you had coded. Something about server reset something - it was not anything I'd seen before at all.
Several other people confirmed at various times that the site was unavailable.
Is it reasonable to send you email at mqseries.net when I see prolonged unavailability? Otherwise, PM me if there are better contacts to use that you don't want to share. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Yeah, feel free to email me at "public" a...t "mqseries.net" whenever this happens because that goes through a different server and should not be affected by whatever problem is bringing down the site. I'd like to believe all these problems were related to the MySQL upgrade and that my hosting provider has fixed everything, but you never know... _________________ Brandon Duncan
