Dear all,

Before calling an application I may need to start MQ Manager if it's not active. I can just start every time and monitor message:

STRMQM MQMNAME(&QMGR) RDEFSYS(*NO)
MONMSG MSGID(AMQ0000 CPF0000)

but would rather use less resources.

Normally, a program should be taking an error if the queue manager is not up. You need procedures to deal with this. Normally, the queue manager should be running all the time, so is there some reason why it should not be running? The administration of seeing that the queue manager stays up is something that should be done outside of normal applications.
