Dear MQ gurus!
My boss asked me to setup a test MQ cluster on one of our AIX pSeries
and to be honest, I have no idea where to start.
We are using MQ 5.3 with CSD06, but that's a simple MQ.
Can somebody kindly help me out, please?
Questions:
1. Do I need an MQ Cluster binaries to install MQ Cluster?
2. Do you know the location of some kind of "idiot proof" MQ cluster installation manual?
3. Does anybody have any sample settings, etc?
Your help will be greatly appreciated
Have a great weekend everybody!

Click on the documentation button on the top of this site and look for the QMgr Clusters manual.
Have a nice weekend too.

1. NO. Regular MQ install should be OK
2. In the infocenter, there is a step by stpe process on how to setup clusters. |

Hi there!
Thank you very much for your answer!
Sorry for my ignorance, but how can I access "infocenter" you are mentioned in your quote? On this WebPage? Or from my MQ install?
Thanks a million!

Hello All,
I am in the same boat.
I read the doc. But could not know how to create a cluster.
How do I create a cluster 'INVENTORY' as in the doc.
Is there any command?
Only Adding the QM seems to be in detailed steps.
My Situation now - I have 2 QMs up and running.
Both the QMs are in Linux Environment.
So I do not have the option of using MQ Explorer
Thanks in advance.

Reread this part of the document:
Queue Manager Clusters / Getting started with queue manager clusters / First tasks / Task 1 - Setting up a new cluster
Contains all you need to know. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Thanks !!
But my Problem is I have both my QMs in Linux.
So the Suggestion -
"Note:
On WebSphere MQ for Windows you can use one of the wizards supplied with WebSphere MQ Explorer to create a new cluster similar to the one created by this task."
in the page referred to will not help me
I want to know if there is any command to create a cluster?
Pls. help
Thanks in Advance. |

If you look at ALL of the section I refered you to, you'll notice that it lists the actions / commands that you need to follow to create a cluster.
I prefer to avoid the wizards where possible for exactly this reason; they're only applicable to Windows and hence are not transportable. Following the commands will also give you a better grasp of what's actually going on. _________________ Honesty is the best policy.

Dear Friends!
I am trying to follow the document about creating cluster. I created both
Q Managers LONDON and NEWYORK, but when I try to create a channel
(TO.LONDON) I am getting the following error:
$ runmqsc LONDON
5724-B41 (C) Copyright IBM Corp. 1994, 2002. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.
Starting MQSC for queue manager LONDON.
DEFINE CHANNEL(TO.LONDON) CHLTYPE(CLUSRCVR) TRPTYPE(TCP)
1 : DEFINE CHANNEL(TO.LONDON) CHLTYPE(CLUSRCVR) TRPTYPE(TCP)
AMQ8226: WebSphere MQ channel already exists.
CONNAME('cc2tws001') CLUSTER(INVENTORY)
2 : CONNAME('cc2tws001') CLUSTER(INVENTORY)
AMQ8405: Syntax error detected at or near end of command segment below:-
CONNAME
AMQ8426: Valid MQSC commands are:
ALTER
CLEAR
DEFINE
DELETE
DISPLAY
END
PING
REFRESH
RESET
RESOLVE
RESUME
START
STOP
SUSPEND
Can you please tell me the correct syntacs? My MQ is 5.3 (CSD06) on AIX 5.2
Thanks a million in advance!!!

I do believe there is an entire manual on this named MQSC Commands....but it looks like the channel is already there anyway.

is the clue. |

Also, you can't enter different parts of the MQSC command on more than one line without a special line continuation character.
So you need to type the "CONNAME" line on the same line as the "DEFINE CHANNEL" line.
But you'll probably want to "delete channel(TO.LONDON)" first. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
