One of our servers has MQ configured in such a way that the data related to each queue manager(2 of'em) and it's associated log files are stored in a seperate drives(not in folder containing system data '@System'). I was just wodering, how could that be done.
Because we can't specify our own location while creating a queue mgr. Even during installation & QMgr creation, we can just specify the log files location, but not the data related each queue manager.

But I do have a system with 3 drives on it. In first drive, have all the folders (like a normal installation). In second and third drives, have seperate folders for each QMgr.
Now if I suppose tht's been copied over, how can the qmgr write error logs when it tries to go and find QMgr in default location?

you can only have the QM logson different drives/locations. The rest of the QM data files are going to go wherever you have MQ installed under ..\Qmgrs\@SYSTEM. All the QMs will be here.

Just incase any other possibility???

is it a queue manager under control of a hardware cluster solution? For instance, on Windows MSCS, the QM data files live on the shared drive, which is different from the drive where MQ is installed. You get the files there by running an IBM command to move all the QM files after you built the QM in the default location.

Maybe this is your scenario? Or maybe someone used that command outside of hardware clustering just for who-knows-why?

That sound's intersting...
I am not at all aware of Windows MSCS and all that stuff. But looks like what you are saying is right.
Is there any thing specific to look at to make sure this is related to Windows MSCS?
Thanks,

are you on Windows?
If yes, are you using MSCS to provide hardware clustering?
ask your System Admin for this server.
