Is it still based on number of CPUs? Could someone clarify? Thank you. |

All licensing questions can only properly be answered by your IBM Sales representative. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I just went through a process ordering some licenses and the question of the number of cpu's came up for the Intel boxes. Yes, it's based on cpu. But, if you're running on VMWare, then you can request subcapacity usage, e.g. the number of cpu's allocated to your image (vs. being charged for the total number of cpu's on that complext). |

Thank you rtsujimoto.
If a server has 1 chip which has 2 CPUs or dual core, then 2 MQ license is needed right? |

its most likely 2.
but relying on random posts from who knows who (myself included) on the internet is dangerous territory if you are dealing with licensing. What if you get the wrong answer? What if the answer for me is different than the answer for you (I'm sure everyone's contract with IBM is not 100% identical).
If you don't have something ironclad (i.e. what your own sales reps provides you in writing), then anything else really is worthless. _________________ Peter Potkay
