I have a client that's been trying install MQ 6.0.1 for zLinux. The install disc is named "Websphere MQ for Multiplatforms V6.0.1 Media Pk Mutlilingual P/N BA0F8ML".
Unfortunately, they aren't able to run the installer. The file system seems to be corrupted somehow: All the file names a truncated to DOS file conventions. They've gotten replacements, but they have the same problem. They can't run the "MQLICENS.SH" script because none of the file names are correct.

We're both baffled by this, any thoughts?

Download the image again from Passport Advantage or PartnerWorld or whatever access you have to Electronic Software Distribution.
Make sure that the client themselves isn't trying to create the CD or duplicate the CD or etc on their own.
How is the CD being loaded to be visible to the zLinux partition?

My CD contains the same as what you are seeing.

They've already downloaded electronic versions, but they paid for physical CDs. I've instructed them to use download versions if they're in a hurry to get up and running while we sort out this mess.

No, this is a factory CD, right from IBM.

This would not be the first time that physical media has been defective like this.

Can you run the MQLICENS.SH script? Their's fails when it can't find any of the installation files.

We ordered a replacement when the first one turned up like this. The replacement had the same problem.

I don't mean "the first time with this disk".
There were similar issues with WBIMB v5 disks.

we had something similiar like this with our z/Linux disk. Opened up a PMR for our "defective disks". Come to find out we were doing something really silly. Something about upper case and lower case. I'll check when I get to work tomorrow. Hopefully this starts you in the right direction if its the same problem we had.

it was realted to ftp and looking at the disk contents via Windows. I think our first stab at it was when we didn't have direct access to the z/Linux machine. We tried cheating and ftping the contents over to the z/Linux from our laptops.
Once the SA mounted the disk right onto the Unix system, it all worked. I guess ftping and/or throwing Windows into the mix scrambled the case of a lot of the files.
