Hi

We are running MQ5.3 on solaris 9 box .
For sender channel connectiopn name is specified as some URL withiout giving any port number of remote queue manager
I have seen this for the first time .
I know Connection name can be given by Receiver's i.p address with remotequeue manager port no .
But this URL thing is verey new to me .
Could anyone please tell me How this works and what addisitonal configuration is required while giving Connname as URL?

check what is written in the intercommunication guide for the "CONNAME" channel attribute.
if the port is omitted, 1414 is used (trptype tcp)

Is it really a URL? Or is it just a host name without a port, like' "venus" ?

Mr Butcher is correct, the default port is 1414, but the "default" can be overridden by specifying
Code:
TCP:
   Port=2000
in the qm.ini file (now the default port is 2000).

Can you paste exactly what you have there?

A url is something like this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Url

whereas I wouldn't expect to see anything like that in the conname field.

Hi

Its Configured by someone else .. They might be using VIPA ...
But i think its done to avoid problems due to dynamic i.p address allocation
