Hello,
I have developed a utility to load message to a queue in various ways. I was wondering if it would be worth the time making it available to other WMQ/WBI administrators, developers and testers and was after some opinions on the matter. I find it very handy and use it along side other tools.
The basic features are:
• Connect using client or sever dll’s
• Put data by typing directly into utility
• Point to a directory and utility will put all files in directory as individual messages, can also put as group automatically.
• Load XML doc, and parse.
• Load a file from the file system.
• Change all MQMD fields.
• Use auto grouping or set manually
• Put under sync point, roll back and commit messages.
• Log activity
I would just like to know if people would be interested and if they would pay a very small fee for it.
Here are some screen shots. As you can see it is laid out in a wizard style and is very easy to use.
Any thoughts will be appreciated.

True....main reason I wrote this was to allow the putting of multiple files from a directory. |

That may not be compelling enough to other people for them to pay money. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Ok, you may have a point.
Wonder how small a fee would make it appeal, or maybe its a lost cause.. |

Would I be correct in saying that the value add between your offering and RFHUTIL is the ability to load multiple files with a single click? Are there any other significant differences between the 2 applications, particually any points where you feel yours scores over RFHUTIL?
Can you also confirm RFH2 header support in your product? It's not clear from your screen shots that it does.

Hi,
Yes that was the main reason I coded this, I needed to load multiple files as groups easily, I feel this utilty does this quite well.
I would say the only other offering over RFHUTIL is the layout and ease of use.
RFH2 headers are not supported but are something that could be added if this was needed. I wasn't using RFH2 at the time, so never coded for them
Thanks for the replies so far. |

if you do decide to go forward with this, I would add fields on the connect screen for client specific fields (hostname, port #, channel name, Security Exit fields, etc.)
Include dropdowns for all fields that include a history of what had been enetered before. I don't want to type the same 48 char q name each time.
Hopefully an MQ errors are clearly displayed somewhere. _________________ Peter Potkay

Hello,
All errors are displayed in dialog boxes when they occur.
As for adding client fields and history drop down boxes, do you think if I did this, then people may be interested in the tool?

Anything you do make it easier to use makes it more likely that it will be used. _________________ Peter Potkay

Hi fazz,
Here some things for you to think about.
- RFHUTIL is free and can load a single file at a time
- MQ Visual Edit costs $99 USD and one of its many features is that it can load (import) multiple files as individual messages into a queue.
My 2 cents.
Regards,
Roger Lacroix

Hi Roger,
Thanks for your 2 cents
So maybe if I aimed at a very cheap price, say £10, it may appeal.
As for that price is not trying to do everything, but is quite capable within its remit.
