Hi all,
I am trying to install WMQI 2.1 on windows xp pro. I have DB2 8.1 enterprise server edition and MQ 5.3 already installed. While running MQSI 2.1 setup, I'm getting the following Error BIP8640w . When I looked into the MQSI messages manual, I have found no explanation for it.
Kindly guide me what to do now.
Thank you |

Do you realise how old version 2.1 is. It is no longer supported after September. I would suggest trying the latest version, V6, at this point.
As there is no explanation of the message, then perhaps giving us the text might help a little.

Unfortunately MQSI 2.1 is being used in our company. I was just trying to install this on my laptop. But it's showing up this error.
I cannot provide any more information because I too get nothing more than the same error. It just says to cjeck the registery for DB2. |

Hi
Try using DB2 7.2. It should work.
You might have to changet the registry but be careful if u do so _________________ Thanks and Regards ,

swift_sol,
I have seen the error many times, when I had to reinstall WMQI only without reinstalling DB2 or WMQ.
My only question to you is Can you continue installation after you get the message and click the OK button ?
If yes, then I can tell you that you can proceed without problems else do the following:
Uninstall DB2.
Use a registry editor to delete references to DB2.
Install DB2 again.
Try installing WMQI now. _________________ Shalabh

Can you let me know whether DB2 8.1(without any fix packs) is supported by MQSI 2.1? |

Hi
They way I read it DB2 8.1 need Fixpack 4 tobe supported with MQSI 2.1
(*)DB2 V8.1 (Fix Pack 4) and DB2 V8.2 supported with limitations (see Note 1 & 2).
The limitations for both BB2 8.1 with FP 4 and 8.2 are:
* Note 1 : The minimum supported combination is WebSphere MQ Integrator v2.1 CSD#5 + WebSphere MQ v5.3 CSD#4.
* Note 2 : Explicit commit fails with a partially globally-coordinated message flow using DB2 v8.1 under XA coordination. There is no workaround available.
Good luck

Again, what is the full text of the message.
Also, to all the people talking about which DB2 is/isn't supported. Those quotes by IBM are for which combinations have been tested together, and are know to work correctly, especially for XA support. Not, which versions will install. You can get the install to accept most versions without problems.

sirsi,
The link clearly talks about installing CSD 7 of MQSI. This means that MQSI is already installed. The current problem is for installing MQSI itself.
EddieA,
Here is the error message
" A problem was detected in the registry entries for DB2. Please check your registry. (BIP8640W)"
swift_sol,
I was able to recreate the problem.
When trying to install WMQI I got the error message. When you click the OK button, the installer just hangs.
Solution:
Abort Install.
Uninstall DB2
Delete all references to DB2 from the registry.
Reinstall DB2.
Install WMQI.
However, for you uninstalling DB2 may not be an option.
I don't know of any method to bypass this situation. _________________ Shalabh
