Is it possible to install components of the WMQ Explorer to use the Eclipse install associated with the Message Brokers Toolkit?
I have installed WMB 6.0 in the Windows environment for...
- Full Product with all pre-reqs
- Toolkit only with RAC and JRE pre-reqs
It appears that in order to use the WMQ Explorer I have to do a complete, separate install of the Eclipse 3.0.1 framework. Is this true? _________________ Thanks,

In order for the install to function, yes. This is true - as far as I know. Maybe someone else knows differently.
In order to use WebSphere MQ Explorer, no. You don't need that Eclipse install around.
You will have to first migrate the MQ plugins to the Broker Toolkit install, though. This is pretty trivial. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Thanks for the prompt reply.
Can you point me to the documentation for migrating the MQ plugins to the Broker Toolkit?
I'll start looking, but if you can help me narrow my search, I would really appreciate it. _________________ Thanks,

I don't remember if it's documented.
You can either point the Update Manager to the Eclipse install as a local update site, or you can manually move all plugins, features and the Links folder.
You only want to migrate from the Eclipse install. You don't want to mess with the eclipse stuff that's under the MQ install. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I believe it was documented in the MQ 6.0.1 readme. |

Thanks... I think I take this to read... "do not mess with the WMQ install of eclipse"
... I am guessing that there is probably a corollary of... "do not mess with MessageBrokersToolkit install of eclipse..." Rather, if you want to run one tool within the other, copy the Plugin links to the Tool you want to run..."
At the end of the day, I need to put up with GB's of redundant software.
This has been really helpful. _________________ Thanks,

No. What I mean is you should be able to completely uninstall the Eclipse30SDK after you have installed MQ and copied or otherwise migrated plugins elsewhere. Just don't try and remove anything in <mq-install-root>/eclipse. That's where most of the MQ plugins live.
But you should verify that the Update Manager copies things, instead of just linking to them, if you decide to use Update Manager.
As far as I know, the requirement for the Eclipse30SDK is only for the installer. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

The MQ Explorer will work in the Brokers toolkit, as long as you have version 6.0.1.0 of the MQ Explorer or higher.
I thought that the install instructions were documented in the Broker readme file.
The easiest way to install is to ensure MQ Explorer is installed and updated to 6.0.1.0, then launch the brokers tookit
Go to the Help Menu, Software Updates -> Find and Install...
Select "Searhc for new features to install"
Select "New Local Site..."
Find the MQ Explorer on your local machine, by default its in C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\eclipse
Click Next
Select "IBM WebSphere MQ Explorer" from the list, and optionally the help if you want that transfered as well.
Agree to the terms
Select an available install site that you have access permission to.
Click finish. _________________ --
