Hi,
I am using MQ Series 5.2 on Windows Server . I creatred Que Manager Named TEST and created Local Queue called q1(smaller case)

When i am issuing runmqsc TEST i am able to connect to the Queue Manager

When i issue command
display qlocal(q1)
8 : display qlocal(q1)
AMQ8147: MQSeries object Q1 not found.

When i defined DEFINE QLOCAL(q) and refreshed the MQseries Console it was showing Q as local Queue, Why this difference..

can you explain me.........

regards
nik

Don't use MQ 5.2.

It's not supported.

It also has nothing to do with your problem.

Unless names are enclosed in single quotes, then MQ turns them into Upper Case.

That's the way the product has always worked, and it still works that way today.

One more thing as you are saying dont use MQ 5.2 i have a restriction regarding this i have MQ Server 5.2 om the Windows and other MQServer on i-Series, will there be any problem in communication between the two MQ Servers , wat fix pack needs to be installed on 5.2..

I know one draw back is that we cant use SSL ,

I have 2 front ends JAVA and VB, that connect to MQserver 5.2 on Windows 2000 Server. Can the java client and VB Client connect to MQserver 5.2 through API's , is there a need to install MQ Client on the 2 front ends VB and JAVA

Ur valuable suggestions are needed

Regards
Nik

Ideally, we'd have you upgrade both machines to the current version of MQ (version 6, refresh pack 1). But upgrading to V5.3 fp 12 would be acceptable as well. MQ is designed so that it can talk between versions, so if you can only upgrade the windows machine, it still will be able to send messages to and from the iSeries machine

You don't need to ...

Yes, you need to install an MQ client on the machines where you are planning on running the java and vb client programs.
