I'm attempting to install MQSeries 5.2 on a Solaris 8 box (as root), but when I attempt to run pkgadd, the following occurs:
## Executing checkinstall script.
/opt/mq-install/mq/mqm/install/checkinstall: /tmp/sh67420: cannot create
pkgadd: ERROR: checkinstall script did not complete successfully
There's plenty of diskspace and the permissions on /tmp directory are fine. The install tar has been expanded into /opt/mq-install/mq/.
Anyone got any ideas/experience as to what might be wrong?
Thanx for any help, _________________ dave

I know it sounds silly, but is there /tmp/sh67420 there already, owned by someone else? If you run it again, you'll have a different process ID - do you still get the same error message?

unfortunately not. The name of the directory (/tmp/sh67420) that the script attempts to create is dynamic and changes everytime that the script is run. the same error occurs each time.
I suspected that it might have something to do with the permissions set up for the mqm user group, but nothing i tried worked. _________________ dave
