I think those are Solaris patches...see your SysAdmin (or Sun if you are the SA) _________________ -wayne |

Yes, these are Solaris patches. MQ is runs anyway, but you may get trouble in special situations (e. g. high load). You may ignore these messages on test systems, to have a quick look on MQv6, but don't use it on live systems! _________________ Regards

If a test system is to be of most use, surely it should be the exact same environment as the production system?
IMHO, since the installer is "kind" enough to tell you these things, it is a good idea to follow the advice. |

mvic,
it depends on what you mean with the word test. My customers use at least 4 different environments. The last step before production should look like the production environment - my costomers calls these integration or quality assurance systems.
I meant a playing system, which maybe is on your desktop for your personal use. _________________ Regards

Understood. If a patch is required to fix problems that might be found in production, it's also needed to fix the same problems to prevent them from occurring in development and test too - that's still true, right? |

You are absolutely right. Sometimes - especially on z/OS - I found something called maintenance or pre-production environment which means a system to test the fix before installing on the live environment. Development and test environments should also have the same patch level like the productive systems, to prevent developers and tester, to develop and test around the bugs. _________________ Regards
