HI
I am trying to instal WMB V5 on Sun Solaris (SPARC).
I currently have WMQ V6.0.1
I already have DB2 V8.2 + Fix pak 7a installed. The documentation states that i need IBM DB2 Enterprise Server Edition, V8.1 (plus FixPak 2) or V8.2. Is this a minimum requirement?
Will that fact i am on a higher fix pak level prevent the insatllation.
Thanks,

Highly unlikely. Installing fix packs is a good thing. Are you going to try this on a test box first? |

Thanks for you reply mvic, that is what i thought also.
However another issue has raised its head. It is stopping the installation saying that there is an reolved dependancy on Webshere MQ 5.3 and IBM Agent Controller.
The documentation states that the follwoing MQ level is allowable
(See http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=849&uid=swg27006541 )
IBM WebSphere MQ for Sun Solaris V5.3 (plus CSD 4) OR
IBM WebSphere MQ Solaris SPARC platform V6.0.1 or above.
We have V6.0.1 and stiill the error occur.....
Unlike windows installation we can not ignore this error as the installation craps out immedialtley.....
Agent controller is not listed as a prereq, i alsways thought this to be an optional feature only to be installed if debugging was required.
Has anyone else encountered these issues? |

I think you have to install Agent Controller.
You *should* be able to ignore the MQ dependancy.
But bear in mind that v5 of Broker is not supported with v6 of MQ (as far as I know). So you'll be putting yourself into an unsupported configuration. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

In reality it looks like looks like you are right Jeff.
However I took the IBM website at its word!!!!!!!!! Is it the case we cannot trust the Specs specified by IBM???
The link in my previous mail differs! it mentions nothing about agent controller, and says WMQ v6 is supported with WMB V5. |

Yes, I concur with jefflowery.
MB v5 is not supported with WMQ v6. _________________ IBM Certified System Administrator

Oops.
I didn't think Broker v5 had been certified for MQ v6.
If it says that it's supported (which it does), then it's supported. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

The other thing is, if you are trying to install from CDs, it may be worth getting a new set of installation media from Passport Advantage or etc if you have access to this.
IBM regularly updates the e-assemblies to newer fixpacks of products. So if your CDs are at FP1, it may be that the e-assembly you download would actually be at FP3 or later. This would include changes to the installer. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Well, again. I think you can't install without RAC.
If it won't let you install with MQ v6, then open a PMR for the installer. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
