We need the Mq Series 5.3 CSD 3 on AIX. It 's no longer available on IBM. Apparently it's too buggy.
But we need it to our application is spec for it. Does anyone have it?
Thanks. |

Later CSDs should meet the spec of your application. If the application vendor refuses to support it at a higher level, then demand they product the CSD3 for you - since IBM has withdrawn it.
And then strongly consider changing application vendors or updating the application software to a newer version. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

I'm not aware of any problems with CSD12 that have been raised in these forums.
I'm clear on why you want CSD03. Consider also the risk of staying at an old code level. MQ devt fixes 10s of problems per CSD - some of these problems you may find sooner or later if you stay at CSD03.
Having said that, if it's not available on the website, you could try calling Support to ask. Personally, I think staying at CSD03 is a risky strategy, but it's not my choice. |

I agreed that it's a bad thing to load CSD3 when CSD12 is available. But the business side want the same environment for their application to run on.
I'm trying to get level 3 in Hursley to release the code but if they dont....Thanks. |

Tell the business you cannot support it at CSD03 level and see how fast they will agree to CSD11/CSD12 _________________ MQ & Broker admin |

Go grab the read me for CSD12 for your platform, copy and paste the loooooong list of problems fixed since CSD3, and ask them "Do you want all these problems and CSD3, or can I put CSD12 on?"
(Technically, some of the problems listed will have been created as part of CSD4, or 5 etc, but in general, CSDx+1 is more stable than CSDx. Now that IBM is on CSD12, you could say 5.3 is stable and mature. Look how long its gonna be before they plan to release CSD13 - months and months away, whereas early on, CSDs come out much more frequently...because there are more problems in the early CSDs, like I dunno, CSD3??? _________________ Peter Potkay

I can fully understand the 'business' requiring the same CSD levels for development and production but what I can't understand is why they are still developing on such an old CSD level?
Isn't develpoment where the newer CSD level should go first? I assume that the new production environment is totally new? If not what CSD level is it currently at? If you currently don't have a production environemt, upgrade development to CSD12, retest the code, and rollit out instead of CSD03.
Why can't you just install CSD03 from the same file you downloaded for the other environment? *GASP* Just think....if any thing happens and you need to re-install MQ you are SOL at installing CSD03 anyway if you haven't got CSD03 onsite right?
Do yourself and your business a favor, upgrade to CSD12.
IIRC there was a whole swack of fixes for client connections in CSD7 (and VB.Net support I think). |
