Hello All,
I'm trying to install fix pack 1 for the V6 toolkit. I've followed the instructions in the readme (installing via rational product updater), but when I click on 'find updates', I get the following message and the update falls
Error parsing at line 5 of update manifest of file:/C:/Toolkit-FixPack1/rad/60/update/features/com.ibm.websphere.messagebrokers.toolkit.update_6.0.0.1.jar
Has anyone got any ideas?
I'm installing on Windows XP SP2.
Thanks

Hi
you can try by deleting the .metadata folder in your workspace. |

Intial problem was that my version of rational product updater was not correct. I downloaded the latest upgrade from the IBM site. This upgrages RPU from 6.0.0.4 to 6.0.1 which is a pre-requisite for fixpack1 of the toolkit.
Having more problems installing the fix pack now. I have downloaded the fix pack and am trying to update from my local directory (not via the net). I am following the instructions that come with the fix pack, but when I click on 'find updates', I get the following:-
Required update IBM WebSphere Message Brokers Toolkit version 6.0.0.1 not found
Any Ideas?
Thanks

This is fixed now. I had to re-extract the zip file and then the update ran successfully.

Did you also find that it takes 3 - 4 hours to install the WMB Toolkit FixPack 1 via the Rational Product Updater (after you have downloaded the 1.4 Gb FixPack) ?
I have XP + SP2 on a "reasonable spec" PC with 1 Gb - glad I'm not running WMB on anything smaller....! |

It may be due to not enough memory. We installed it on a dual proc (or hyperthreaded) 2GB winXP machine and it ran in about 1 Hour. Are you paging a lot ?

I didn't check the paging, but you could have a point.
I have filled up 90% of my hard drive, so if it was paging, could it also have tried to grab swap space on what's left of my (fairly fragmented) disk ?
Who knows,....but even an hour seems a long time for a WMB Fix Pack install - a DB2 Fix Pack install takes a while, but not more than 30 minutes ?
Regards,
Nick. |

Is there virus checking going on in the background? Typically, we temporarily disable the service when installing WebSphere products/maintenance, realizing a significant reduction in response times. |
