Hello all:
I am new to this area and would like to know the main tasks of the MQseries administrator. for example, create queues, Qmanagers, channels, setup security (i.e. SSL), and what else?
what should we know from the application people? what questions to ask them?
what about dead-letter-queue handler, do we modify that file according to information from the application people or what?
I am reading the IBM manuals and also have the trail version of MQseries (Websphere MQ) version 6 installed. i know how to define/create queues, qmanagers, channels, point-to-point connections, clusters(overlap clusters too), triggering, what else to know?
anybody faced message affinity with clusters? how did you solve it?
can anybody give a practical scenario for practice, including SSl setup?
If I am asking alot, please forgive me, i am trying to get practical feeling about the product, this is something i do not have yet.
Regards

other tasks of an administrator (my tasks):
- assistance of designers and developers
- researching problems and errors (why do channel not start etc.)
- resolving problems (indoubt states etc.)
- migrate QMgrs, cluster repositories etc.
- setting up OAM security (authorizations on local objects - not to compare with SSL, which includes authentication and channel encryption)
- ...

Yes, a lot, how many years do you have time? As always there a lots of different possible solutions. I have worked for several customers and, yes there are similarities, but lots of differences too. Some differences depend on preferences and experiences of the MQ admins (some do not like MQ clustering, others love it etc.). _________________ Regards
