Your killing me.

Vennela to his credit was trying to be nice.

At this point in time I'm not in any mood to put up with this.

Please do tell us, what is your problem!

There is no such thing as a "local channel" in MQSeries.

What kind of Channel are you trying to start?

When you issue the "start chl" command what kind of output is returned?

Are there any errors in the ~/qmgrs/QMGR/errors/AMQERR01.LOG that may indicate what your problem is?

Please do your best to not be vague.

Exactly what kind of information did you provide that would help anyone to help you resolve your problem?

We don't know what OS this "local Channel" is running on let alone the version of MQ.

All you seem to be able to tell us is that you are trying to start a channel and your feeble attempts to do so are failing.

Apparently you went to the trouble of registering as a member here so I must assume you possess a certain level of intelligence.

But lets just for a moment imagine that you are an auto mechanic and someone walks into your shop and says, "My car won't start. Can you tell me why?"

That is roughly what you have just done.

With the information you provided, did you truely expect anyone to up and say, "oh well here's the problem mate, I've seen this a thousand times with local Channels. Right then, off you go."

I'm gonna attempt to guess at the mechanic's answer:

Local channel = receiver channel.

When the channel is running but not receiving any data its status is INACTIVE.
So this is working as designed. Read the intercommunications manual!

Enjoy!

Could be a SVRCONN Channel too or a Sender Channel with a DISCINT set to (1).

Indeed.

Here's a suggestion, rm -rf /var/mqm then RTFM.

Hope you do realize what csmith told you to do. Better check it with some one else before you want to see if it really solves your problem

In other words DO NOT DO IT.

We're interested in helping, but you must supply a lot more information about what the problem is, why you think it is a problem, what you have done in terms of looking at logs and trying to fix it, and what your environment is (versions, OS). The information you have given is simply not enough for anyone to make a meaningful suggestion.
