Just looking over a planned upgrade to CSD11 for MQ 5.3 for HP UX. I've read on these boards about some troubles (specifically the 2009) with java clients on different support levels, and am now wondering if I should 'halt' the upgrade until we can figure out what level the clients are at.
Is this a valid concern, or did I misunderstand the troubles? |

Could you explain a little more? What exactly needs to be figured out?
CSD11 gets recommended quite a lot here - is there an example of CSD11 causing a problem?
The latest is CSD12 now.
EDIT: fixed typo

It's laid out in painful detail in that topic - thanks for posting the link.
Yes, the extra checking that's present in CSD11 (on the server) makes some things fail that used to succeed. I think the only "safe" thing here is to ensure all Java/JMS clients are upgraded, and then upgrade on the server.
( See PeterPotkay's last post in that topic for a summary : http://www.mqseries.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=111922#111922 )
How big is your client deployment? |

We've got 15 - 20 external clients that connect to our 'various' qmgrs. Our setup is 'one qmgr per application' resulting is approx 10 qmgrs on our server (not my idea, but who am I to argue with an infrastructure manager...)
Anyhow, I think i'll postpone this upgrade (we are currently at CSD6 with no troubles.. just wanted to be 'current')
The 2009 thread did mention an interm fix (IC47335) to be applied on top of CSD11 - but this whole thing makes me kind of nervous now. I think it best to propose a 'client' upgrade first - and take it from there.... |
