Can anything cause the below message to be written short of a human actually issuing a STOP CHANNEL command for this particular SVRCONN?
I had other SNDR channels ending abnormally as well during this time frame, and then everything magically started working.
Windows 2000 SP4
MQ 5.3.0.11
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
01/16/2006 19:34:38
AMQ9528: User requested closure of channel 'MySVRCONN.CHANNEL.NAME'.
EXPLANATION:
The channel is closing because of a request by the user.
ACTION:
None.

Saw this myself, and got to the bottom of it - so thought I'd update this post in case anyone else sees it.
MQ has an ACPI hook into Windows to stop channels on suspend, and then restart them on resume.
If you power off (or run out of battery) while suspended, then your channels might then be stuck disabled in STOPPED status and need manually restarting.
Also check for FFSTs from process amqmtb, particularly with the following function in the stack:
CAmqmtbrnDlg::StartChannelsRunning
If you find an FDC file for which you can't locate an existing APAR, then it would be good to raise a PMR for IBM to investigate.
Also take a look at the following topic in the info-center, to see how to control MQ's behavior here:
