Hi Guys,
We see application slowing down couple of time a day. One reason may be due to queuing of the messages in EXEXMLINPUTQ. At one time we see 40messages been piled up. I tried to increase the number of execution servers thinking that, there may lack of servers to pickup the message.
It did not improve much. I was wondering is there any other parameter I need to look for or do I need to add some more execution servers.
I know from this forum that, recommended execution servers are 2/CPU.
One more question around this is, does increasing the execution server will increase the chance of deadlock?

Let me know your thought?

Thanks,
-Mahesh

We saw a backup on RTS input q while trying to submit a batch of processes to WF. It was fixed by increasing the buffer size on DB2.

Hi guys, I got the below very useful reply from IBM.

"No, increasing the number of execution servers does not necessarily increase the possibility of deadlocks or degrade performance. In fact it MAY actually boost performance. There are many different areas that could impact performance and it will be dependent on where the bottleneck is. Ultimately it is workload that will negatively impact performance. Your database is on a separate
machine and as long as that machine has the power to handle the workload the database will produce it won't be a source of performance problems. Over on your Workflow server it is the same....
as long as the machine has the power to handle the load Workflow places on it you will be fine. But these are different and separate loads. Your sources are correct in the recommendation of execution servers to CPUs - approximately 2 servers to a CPU. However this is contingent on what else is running on that machine. Obviously if your database was on that machine too you would need to adjust this number. Same is true if you have some other large application running concurrently with Workflow."

Thanks to all!!
