Hi,
We have our production brokers running on AIX with WMQI at CSD level 5. We are shortly planning to upgrade them to CSD level 9. Is there a proven way of upgrading WMQI without stopping brokers? Any inputs are greatly appreciated.
Thanks. |

I wonder what best strategy the WMQI veterans are following to upgrade their production brokers with minimum or no downtime! |

I think most people accept the downtime, and do the sensible thing, which is plan for it.
Some people probably do the unsensible thing, which is build an entirely new infrastructure with the new CSDs applied, and then move all the flows and sets and connections. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

Hi,
Yes, it is recommended to have a down time during the up gradation. So that in case of any issues u can rollback. Also it is required a basic sanity testing required before realizing to the production.
Since u should have used any custom node or user node that may not be tested in new version. This issue will be showstopper if it is not notified properly.
During the up gradation the brokers have to be stopped for the consistency. _________________ Thanks and Regards,

Thank you all for the responses. Now I am more confident in arguing with my higherups for a downtime! |

the best is to have 2 or more brokers, MQ clustered. While you upgrade one, the other handles the load, so no downtime.
Argue for 2 or more brokers...... _________________ Peter Potkay
