Hi,
We are planning to have a v5 and a v6 broker on the same AIX box. Since the paths and other stuff are different for the 2 versions we decided to use 2 different user-ids for the 2 versions with different .profile files.

Now the problem we are seeing is with the .odbc.ini file. How do we change the entries at the end of the .odbc.ini file to accommodate for both the versions ? lines like InstallDirectory, TraceDll, etc ?

Can we have 2 separate .odbc.ini files ? If yes, how do we specify which file to be picked up by which broker ?

FYI...We are using 2 separate instances of a remote Oracle database for each of v5 and v6 brokers.

Can somebody please guide me here.

Thanks.
ydsk.

The default location for the odbc.ini file is different for v5 than it is for v6.

and .. if you're using different profiles, you can have different ODBCINI environment variables.

Hi,
I tried setting the ODBCINI environment variable in the .profile file of the v6 user-id (just before the line invoking the . ./mqsiprofile ) and exporting it, but it seems to be ignoring this setting because when I do an echo $ODBCINI it is still showing the v5 setting of '/var/mqsi/odbc/.odbc.ini'.

And there is nothing in the .profile file after the line that invokes mqsiprofile.

So, is mqsiprofile setting it to the v5 setting ?

Can somebody please tell me how I can over-ride this setting ?

Thanks.

On AIX, the mqsiprofile script provided by IBM in the <install dir>/bin actually sets some things incorrectly. One is the ODBCINI environment variable, which is set to the default v5 path instead of the default v6 path.

The other problem we found on AIX is we need to manually edit the LIBPATH environment variable ( in the .profile file of the broker user-id just after invoking mqsiprofile) to include the <database_home dir>/lib32 in the LIBPATH. Otherwise ODBC connections don't work. This isn't documented for the AIX platform.

We got the issues resolved finally.

Hope this information helps others.

Thank you.
