Hi guys,

This could have been a topic for General discussion but I am more concerned about the future of Message Broker.

I hear rumors that the new WebSphere Server Foundation will merge ICS and WebMethods...and then I hear that Message Broker will also get integrated into it...

Does anyone know the truth ?

Even if it is, what does that mean for us developers ? Will we now have to know all the other softwares also ?

Regards.

Hi guys,

I could not accept the truth in it.. There is no retirement for a software these days.. But it is transforming into other forms.. This transformation is required to make the product insync with latest technologies. .. Message Broker is expanding its scope by adopting Webservices technology into it. Soon there will be an integration platform and all going to be a part of it.. But Still Message Broker is required to integrate Legacy systems and hosts. It is well known for asynchronous communication.

These webmethods and ICS are in initial stage now and required lot of modification for practical implementation.

There is always a learning curve in our professional life but our present knowledge boost up our learning practise.

Regards,

Sridhar H

elvis, ah ...that's a very wild imagination or rumours without any reason.
srindies you are right. webMethods and ICS are two diff offerings from two diff vendors with two completly diff functionality. Common between the both are they both serve integration domain. with regard to new version of websphere server foundation, IBM has launched Websphere Process Server 2 months back, a BPEL engine, which collects the best features of ICS (featuring BO's)+ MQ Workflow (featuring Human Task)+ SF ( featuring BPEL Engine, CEI, J2EE app server) + Out-of-box rule engine + activity state diagram. As you might have infered the package quite is heavy. With respect to MB, IBM offers Websphere ESB which will work closely a plug in with WPS will provide limited ESB capability against the rich features provided by MB. Vision is to provide agile SOA solution by Process Choerography(WPS) and implementing ESB pattern using MB / WESB. and yes MB is not a god. To know more on this, refer the SOA patterns and do some research on IBM product site.

These are my thoughts on IBM product strategy.(btw, unless IBM buys webMethods product I do not see your rumours to be true:)
