The Sr. Web Systems Administrator (Solaris & WebSphere) is either a 6 month Right to Hire Contract or Direct Permanent Hire opportunity with our well known Central Florida Client.

Overview:
This Senior System Administration position will be responsible for a variety of web-related support and administration functions within the IT Web Hosting team and will be dedicated to supporting the J2EE web environment and applications.

IBM WebSphere Application Server version 5.x Administration

Responsibilities:

· Delivery of the systems support for a UNIX and MS Windows infrastructure solution, including installation, configuration, deployment of the infrastructure tools to support high transactions and high availability, systems administration, and systems maintenance.

· Research, analyze, recommend and implement upgrades to the environment, standard processes, tools and techniques.

· A pragmatic, technical implementation approach, coordinate/execute/lead the deployment of the infrastructure platform.

· Work closely with Application Development, Project Management and other support groups to ensure that all major needs are worked through in the context of the overall needs of the organization.

· Ongoing support, improvements and expansion will be key as the client base grows and as more functions and features are added.

· Required to carry pager on a rotating schedule to provide after hour support.

· Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with internal/external customers, support partners and prepare technical documentation.

· Strong problem solving skills to interpret equipment/system output, detect errors and take corrective action.

· Responds to Help Desk requests by date requested.

· Assists others in department with needs of escalation and interpretation between front and back office.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have 2 years minimum full time Websphere system administration including installation, configuration, performance tuning, and configuration management, software upgrade planning and troubleshooting in a large heterogeneous environment.
Minimum of 2-3 years experience with Solaris and MS Windows 2000/2003
Hands-on experience in configuring, monitoring and tuning J2EE application servers and troubleshooting deployed environments.
Demonstrated experience conducting performance tests and tuning of web/application/database server infrastructures.
Ability to analyze, evaluate and solve problems of a difficult process or technical nature.
Proven ability to meet designated deadlines and professional business practices.
Ability to work in a self-sufficient and task-oriented manner.
Experience with backup, recovery, set up of procedures and ability to support a high availability configuration.
Must be a team player and comfortable in a large support role.
Must have strong Customer Service disciplines and excellent communications skills in order to support and maintain 24x7 uptime for Enterprise web applications.

Education:

Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems or a related field is preferred.
Certification designation in WebSphere, Java, J2EE, Solaris and/or Microsoft MCSE or MCSA is preferred.
