Migrating the CFG MGR from 2.1 to V6 on difference computers..
My 2.1 environments run on w2000 servers
My new v6 environments will be on w2003 servers.
As the WBIMBv6 cfg mgr apparently does not run on w2000(only w2003 or xp servers), I guess I can't install v6 on the 2.1(w2000) server for the migration(to copy data into the internal respository and enable a mqsibackup/restore/configmgr) - I'll need to install DB2 on the w2003 server and do it thataway..correct?
Anyone installed V6 on a w2000 server successfully??
Thanks all! |

Just make sure that the V2.1 database is accessible over remote ODBC and specify that data source on the V6 mqsicreateconfigmgr. The V6 Config Manager will migrate data from the remote source. As you say, you'll need the DB2 ODBC drivers on the W2003 machine in order to do this.
(Having said that, there's no technical reason why the V6 CM can't run on W2000 - it's just that IBM haven't tested it.) |

I've have the v6 configmgr, toolkit and broker running on win2k (as well as red hat fc3). On windows, I have it running with the v5 configmgr, toolkit and broker and everybody is very happy. _________________ -wayne |

Good luck, and do share your experiences here (good or bad!) |
