Especially the Concepts and Architecture manual might be of very big help

My two cents...
In layman's worlf.
ICS provides a way to integrate different systems using the MQ backbone . It does not include Human interfaces. Workflow ideally includes human element. ICS provides adopters to Workflow.

IBM is combining both and is going to market it as process server in future.

Just FYI, The initial release of Process server is generally available now. And as you indicate it contains elements of ICS and MQWF
