Hi,
I am installing WMQ 5.3 on Windows 2000 SP4 (I am using original MQ CD),
The installation log says
----------------------------------------------------------------
..
..
19:05:57 Found 10 usable languages on CD
19:05:57 Found 'E:\readmes\en_us\readme.txt'
19:05:57
19:05:57 Invoking: 'E:\MQLaunch.exe'
19:05:57 Current dir: 'E:'
19:05:57 Parameters: '(null)'
19:08:11 MQLaunch.exe ended; exit code 229 (0x000000e5)
19:08:11 Ending with RC 229 (0x000000e5)
19:08:11
----------------------------------------------------------------
My MSI installer version is : 2.00.2600.1267
One more thing to note is, I have currently MQ 5.2.1 installed on this machine which I am trying to upgrade to 5.3.
Hope I will get a reply
Thanks |

Hi,
I've found, several times, when I've been upgrading MQ that it holds onto running processes, so what I do is, stop the Windows server (MQSeries service), set the service properties to 'disabled', reboot the machine and then try again. It sounds a bit drastic but it's always worked for me when I start getting weird errors.
Let me know if it helps.... |

Thanks for the reply,
Well you are right. But we tried that also even then we faced the same problem.
But finally we got the solution, when we are going through the log file(MQ Instalation log file, which is generated using msiexec command) the Roll Back action was taking place, when the installer tries to uninstall some of the older version patches like MA88.
When we tried to remove MQ88 using Add/Remove programs then we came to know that it got crashed.
After installing and uninstalling MQ88 MQseries 5.3 upgrade went smooth.....................
Thanks
