Existing Scenario:

Windows XP box
IP Address: Static IP - 10.2.19.236
WMQ 5.3 CSD05 -- 1414
WBIMB V5.0 Configuration Manager
DB2 UDB 8.1 Fixpak 5 -- ConfigMgr Database CMRTDB
WBIMB V5.0 Toolkit

AIX box
IP Address: Static IP - 10.1.6.16
WMQ 5.3 CSD05 -- 1414
WBIMB V5.0 Broker -- WBNDBRK
DB2 UDB 8.1 Fixpak 5 -- Broker Database BRKRTDB

I have configured the MQ connection and have successfully deployed the message flow and all is working fine.

The Issue
The business partner client now wants to move the Windows XP machine to a different VLAN that will result in a different STATIC IP for the XP machine.

The Query
I do understand that I would have to change the connection name parameter in the channel to allow MQ communication between the Configuration Manager and Broker Queue Managers.

The question is whether the change in IP will result in malfunctioning of the Configuration Manager Database preventing the user from further message flow deployments.

The query arises from my guess that the DB2 node name and/or the instance name and related information are associated with the machine IP address. Also would the Broker database maintain the IP address of the Configuration Manager machine similar to the Configuration Manager maintaining the Broker UUID.

All help and guidance is appreciated.

Thanks,
Prakash

I can't think of a reason why this would affect your ability to deploy, however you will need to modify (a) the channels between the brokers and CM to use the new IP address, and (b) your domain connection files in the toolkit.

If you're using the same queue manager name for the CM on the new box, then you'll make your life a lot easier. Otherwise, the broker will publish status to the wrong queue manager. (BTW, V6 makes moving CMs between machines easier.)
