Hello,

The new version of Message Broker needs MQ6 to be installed but I have all the other MQ applications at client's place running on MQ 5.3
I installed MQ v6 to work with MB v6. But I would like to know the interoperability (compatibility) between both the versions of MQ as the queuemanager on v6.0 has to communicate with some other queuemanagers in version 5.3 for message routing.

I could know that MQ v6 does not support 32-bit DB2 instances. It needs to have 64-bit instances.

Anyother factors are greatly appreciated.

If the newer version you speak about is WMB v6, then Im not sure MQ 6 is a prereq:

WebSphere MQ V5.3 (with Fix Pack 1 or higher) is required.
This is as per the WMB v6 release notes. Even in the Beta release evaluation, it had been a much discussed point. WMB v6 works just fine with MQ 5.3 - FP 1 or above

This link should clarify WMB v6 prereq's in more detail.

Hi,

Yes, the new version that I was taking about Message Broker is WMB v6.0 and the minimum pre-reqs for it are:

WebSphere Eclipse Platform v3.0.1(Pre-req for Websphere MQ v6.0)
WebSphere MQ v6.0
ODBC Drivers for Cloudscape

Thanks for the above point.

The WMB V6 Launchpad is pretty good at telling you what's missing for a broker install.
Just fire that up and it will tell you if you need to upgrade (and can also do the upgrade for you).
