Hi, we have a large number of Windows 2003 Server systems with MQ5301. When applying CSD10 it complains that processes are still connected and should be stopped first. However, the only process I can see in Task Manager is the tray icon and the installation itself. So if I terminate these (which closes the install process too) and then restart the install, I get the same problem. I am told that this may be a shared memory issue on windows, probably not just 2003. Anybody else experienced this or know of a way around it? Waiting upto 2 hours has been suggested as windows "garbage collects" within that time which then removes the attached process.
I also get this "process still attached" issue when trying to stop the qmgr. The sledge hammer approach to this particular issue is to reboot the machine, which as it is a stand-alone dev box is ok, but is clearly not acceptable going forward.
Regards

Any client application attached to the Queue Manager?
Use tlist rather then the taskmanager. You can also use processes explorer from sysinternals.
Search this forum for problems on CSD updates. This has been discussed many times already and I am almost certain you'll find your answer in one of the old threads. |

Thanks Sebastian. However I should have stated that I am not a Newbie, have already searched this entire site, checked the manuals and memo.ptf for CSD10/11 and find nothing that mentions this issue. This is a new, clean build. There aren't even any qmgrs created - simply I have installed MQ, then tried to install the CSD. I don't believe anytthing should be attached. |

And...if you get the problem resolved, let us know what you did. We all like closure .... _________________ -wayne |

Sometimes it's a system dll connected to MQ. You can use a flag with amqicsdn.exe like:
amqicsdn.exe -a MQPINUSEOK=1
and this will bypass the checking for libraries is use

It turned out to be a problem with Sophos antivirus. I don't think this is picked up by the sysinternals tool even, but I may be wrong on that as I haven't done another install since. So basically I have to stop the Sophos service and hey presto - away the Process goes!
I wonder if this applies to other anti-virus and low-level software such as Intrusion Detection Systems, or if it is only an issue with Sophos.

Yes it does, Neil. Be assured, that we all could tell you stories on that! |
