Hello all,
I am not able to connect nodes in the WebSphere Message Broker Version 6 toolkit. Each time I attempt a node via right clicking on it and selecting "Create Connection", the connector does not appear.

So, I started the toolkit from the command line with the -debug option. Below was what I saw each time I attempted to connect a node in the toolkit:

java.lang.NullPointerException
Unhandled even loop exception

The toolkit, broker, and configuration manager is running on Red Hat Linux 4.0.

Any help would be appriciated!

Is that FC4 or ES/AS?

Hm, odd prob that - If I were you, I'd try installing latest fixpacs, and if that doesn't work I'd uninstall-reboot-reinstall for lack of a better choice... a longshot would be something to do with java - trying using a different jvm.

Did this work in the past or is this a new installation? Does it work on other machines with the same configuration?

Just to let you know, I don't have any such problem on FC3 (I'm not suggesting you have to go to FC3 however).

What JDK? Mines:
IBMJava2-SDK-1.4.2-1.0

This is a known defect will be fixed in the 1st IFix, which is supposed to be released very soon. The APAR number is IC47721.

In the meantime, to create a connection select the connection tool from the palette, instead of using the right-click menu from a node.

Suggestions such as re-installing, changing JVM etc will not help.

I'm very surprised to hear someone say that the problem doesn't occur on FC3, as it occurs on all Linux systems tested here. Note that neither FC3 nor RHEL4 is actually an officially supported platform, and it's unlikely that any Fedora release ever will be.

I can say I have had first hand experience of this on a client site

It is definitely not supported on RHEL4 and in an email I saw from IBM it said that it will not be for sometime.
