Is there a reason to have Point to Point channels defined in a cluster for three QMG's sharing Queues? We have three z/OS qmgrs that have some QSG's and they also are part of the same cluster along with numerous distributed QMGRs.
I have been digging though books to answer the question, but there is no documented reason for what I can see.
Anyone have a really good book in this area?
Or even a white paper would be good.
Thanks in Advance. |

Do you mean p2p channels between the zOS qmgrs or between the zOS qmgrs and the distributed qmgrs, or both? _________________ -wayne |

Well, if you need to move messages between those qmgrs that you can't keep in the QSG (like >63K in V5.3 of MQ), or you don't want to keep in a QSG (like >63K in V6*) then you'd need them ....
*Note: in V6 we do allow >63K msgs in the CF, but the bits >63K wind up in DB/2, which has a performance impact. _________________ -wayne |

p2p channels (cluster channels) are also recommended for full repository queuemanagers. _________________ Regards, Butcher |
