Hi!!!
Yesterday I have installed FixPack 7 for IBM DB2 7.1 (with FixPack 6) on HP-UX 11i. WMQI 2.1 (U482017) has stopped working because it can't connect to its broker database.
I can connect to the broker database using "DB2 CONNECT TO MQSIBKDB" command. And any SQL statement works fine.
But I can't connect to it using ODBC. I've written a small program in Java
(I used JDBC/ODBC bridge) and it doesn't work too.
I received the error message: "The driver returned invalid (or failed to return) SQL_DRIVER_ODBC_VER: "
Just for checking, I connected to Oracle database using this program and ODBC and it works fine.
So I can suppose it's problem with ODBC.
Before FixPack 7 installation, everything was OK, of course. I've used this
installation for months.
Any hints?
Regards,
Mariusz |

Hi!!!
It's an old problem with incompatibilities with Unicode support when the Merant Driver Manager accesses DB2's ODBC driver on UNIX.
I switched to the alternative (non-Unicode) ODBC library (from libdb2.sl to libdb2_36.sl) and now it works fine.
Bye,

I also had this exact same error after we removed and re-installed WMQI, and it was because we had forgotten to also re-install the CSD U495344. We are also using HP-UX 11i, MQSI 2.1, and DB2 7.1.55.
After installing the patch, my mqsicreatebroker command was successful. |
