If you have not yet solved this problem, I think jefflowrey's "off-the-cuff guess" might be worth another look. "Wscript" is the GUI-based VB host. You could try changing to "cscript". Also try running without the //B option, as this is suppressing prompts and script errors. You can of course direct your script output to a file, which you can access, even if you cannot access the background window.
