hi all
is there any list out there of the Reasons for which messages end up in DLQ? like 10 most common reasons for messages going to DLQ or something like that.
this might be helpful to me and lot of others also.

Off the top of my head, these are the most common for me:
2053, 2085, 2086, 2051, 2035, 2192, 65536(on WB-IMB QMs)

For me, 99.9% of all dead letters get there due to 2053 (destination queue is full).
The occasional 2085 unknown object is the second reason I see them. |

And do not forget 2063 (from memory) backout threshold reached when using Websphere app server with no backout queue specified.

It is also customary to get rid of non-persistent msgs and reports, if you're using the runmqdlq rules table, or some similar mechanism.
Furthermore, I tend to define a second deadq called MANUAL.DEADQ or something similar, and all msgs with an unusual error code are forwarded there; this way the normal DEADQ is handled automatically and usually remains empty and I am alerted only if MANUAL.DEADQ has any msgs (this also has performance impact concerning runmqdlq). |

this really helps in architecting MQ setup.
though i m not expecting much traffic in my DLQs, i m definitely gonna try hopsala's approach in my seup.
