Hello there ,
After installing MQ 5.3 on windows NT with CSD 10 , MQ jar files were installed under the following 2 directories :
C:\software\MQSeries\MSI\program files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\Java\lib
C:\Program Files\IBM\Source\WebSphere MQ CSD10 EnUs\CSD00041
However, our developers want this to be changed , they need the files to be moved to a location with a shorter path somthing like :
D:\Mqm\MQSeries\Java\lib
Because of the additional length of each path for each jar file, they complain that they have exceeded the allowed environment variable value length.
Is this somthing can be done without worrying about missing up the installation? As an admin , do I need to do additional work other than simply create the new driectories and move all the jar files to that place?
thanks much _________________ "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used

The jar files should be in <mqm root>\java\lib (where <mqm root> is typically something like c:\Program Files\Websphere mq, but on my machine is usually c:\mqm). There should be no issue with copying those files anywhere you like (as long as you, or someone else, remembers to recopy them after service is applied ). (does windows support symlinks yet?? ) _________________ -wayne |

Confirmed, you can move or copy those files to another directory but as wschutz you need to document it so that when future Service Packs or New Versions of WMQ are installed the installer will know that these steps have to be taken. _________________ Yes, I am an agent of Satan but my duties are largely ceremonial. |
