Hi-
In one of my friends interview the person asked two important features which need to be taken care inorder to make an EAI project successfull. It seems my friend has answered that if the brokers main functionalities (Routing and Transformation) are taken care in performance/maintainability wise then the project will be a huge success. Wondering if the answer is right or wrong. Please comment. Thanks,

I don't think that performance is a guarantee of project success, and especially not of "huge success".
The success or failure of a project is dependant on many factors.
So I would say your friend's answer was wrong. But that is just my opinion, and it may differ from the people who asked the question. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |

A real-world answer to this would be - healthy management and an appropriate budget - in my experience, good technological solutions comes with good people, not the other way around (and good people come from good management and budget).
EAI projects are always highly political within the integrating organization, there are all sorts of skirmishes about who does what and who is responsible for support etc; you have to have strong pushy management to get the work done properly and in good time.
The silly interview answer would possibly be - good communication with the integrated applications developers, and solid technical know-how; but as jeff said, there is no simple formula here.
Usually, unless the interviewer is an idiot, these questions are not right/wrong questions, they're just threads to carry the conversation in the right direction, and are meant to see if in general the person knows what he's talking about. If he got the answers "wrong", but gave the impression he knows his stuff, he'll pass. |

The understanding of what "success" means, in the particular case.
And the ability to achieve that.
Neither of which are guarantees, nor guaranteed in any project. _________________ I am *not* the model of the modern major general. |
