Everyone,
I have recently completed the upgrade from phpBB1.4.4 to phpBB2.0. Most of the functionality of the site remains the same, but there are many new features. Make sure to explore around. You might want to add an avatar to your account (which will appear in all your postings) or try the new full text search indexing. This is only the first step, giving the site a makeover. I am currently working on adding the following functionality:
1. File attachments on posts - now you'll be able to attach code snippets, images, documents, etc... right in your post!
2. Avatar gallery - Right now you can only upload avatars to the server. I plan on adding a large gallery of avatars to choose from.
Along with the makeover, the name of the site is in the process of being changed. If you look at the URL in your browser, you'll see webmq.com. While the site still has mqseries.net plastered all over it (and it won't be going away completely for a while) I think it makes sense to move to this new name. It reflects the fact that IBM has officially changed the name of the MQSeries product to WebsphereMQ. In this same vein, I plan on expanding the number of forums devoted to the Websphere product. _________________ Brandon Duncan

Please ensure that mqseries.net (URL) continues to work.
I am also hoping that new/old/visited topics get hilighted ... if not, that will be a disaster.
Ok, see that it does /// nice .... looks great

This really looks good. Would say MQ also is now getting there to compete with all those Microsoft Gui stuff.
Excellent job well done.
Cheers.

Yes, www.mqseries.net will continue to redirect to www.webmq.com - assuming I don't forget to pay my $30 each year
If my aim was to continue focusing on the MQSeries product, I would likely just leave the name as is. But I would really like to encompass a broader set of IBM products, so adding the Websphere name to the title would make it readily apparent to new users that this site addresses much more than just MQSeries.
I mean, if you just go to the Websphere page at ibm.com:
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/info1/websphere/index.jsp
and click on product offerings A-Z, you can see that Websphere brand covers all sorts of products. _________________ Brandon Duncan

Exelent job Brandon.
About chaning the name to WebMQ hmmm... I'm not qouite shure what it will add to us, first impression is why "www.web..." this is too much web.
The plan of making this site an WebSphere protal is a good idea, and seen in that light it might be a good idea with WebSphere instead _________________ Regards, Jørgen

New look very pretty, also being able to view the topic you are replying to is great.
However one of the most useful pieces of functionality was the colour history of which topics you had reviewed and those you had not. ANy chance that this will be revived?
Still my favourite site though!

Brandon:
The new look seems a little bit more useable, as far as the name change goes, I can see your point about changing the name, and dont think it should have much affect on anyone (assuming the link from old name to new name remains).

Jamie,
The new site does still have colors to indicate which forums/posts have been added since your last visit. On the main page, you'll notice that next to each forum there is a little icon that looks sort of like a notepad. These will appear orange when there is a new posting in that forum. The same goes for individual posts. The reason you probably haven't noticed it yet is because of a change to the way sessions are handled. In the old version, your cookie would contain the date you had last visited the site. This way, when you came to www.mqseries.net, it would know when your last visit was, without you even having to log in. However, in the new version this information is stored in the database, which means that until you log in, it doesn't know when your last visit to the site was. But the new version also has a auto-login function, so if you set that up, you should get logged in automatically everytime you visit. _________________ Brandon Duncan
