i am trying to run a user trace on z/os
couple of questions
can i start a trace from the toolkit?
can i start a trace on two execution groups simlutaneously? |

You can certainly do this for distributed platforms, and since there is no specific mention in the Starting a user trace documentation that says you can't do this for the z/OS platform, the answer to your questions would be Yes & Yes.
The only reference to the z/OS platform in the documentation relates to the format of the trace command. |

austin - you should also look at SMF records; I don't you what exactly it is you wish to trace, but in z/OS you can also trace workload and other stats via SMF.
If you are unfamiliar with SMF, or have no access to a z/OS admin who knows how to configure SMF records, you should probably refrain from using it, it's slightly complex. |
