Hi, there:

Does anyone know that MQ Workflow Windows ActiveX API supports PowerBuilder? We have PowerBuilder user interface applications there already, and would like to consider a Workflow product. Is that workable? Thanks![/b]

We are currently using the ActiveX controls within powerbuilder applications. I do not know, however, if this practice is supported by IBM. It would be helpful if you have someone on your staff who is familiar with VB since that is what most if not all of the examples you will find are written in.

In order to simplify the coding we created an NVO that contains all of the MQWF contants and instance variables of type OLEObject for the MQ datatypes (ExecutionServiceArray, ExecutionService, ProcessInstanceList, ProcessInstance, WorkList, WorkItem, etc.). We also created some user object functions to handle generic functions such as logging on/off, searching a worklist for a given work item, and checking workitems in/out.

Like you, we had existing applications and had to implement workflow after the fact. Anyone on this board can correct me if I'm wrong but I think it would have been better to model the workflow first and build the necesasry applications around it. Since we were not able to do this it forced us to model our workflow in ways that may not be optimal.
