I am having a problem getting mq 5.3 to work with windows 2003 sp1. As soon as I install the serive pack mq does not want to work or windows doesn't want it to work! I have looked online and found very little information on this subject. Does anyone have a hack to get this to work?
Thanks,
Damon |

A little more information about the problem would be helpful.
What actually happens. Error messages. FDCs. Logs. Etc.

What do you mean by "Problem getting MQ 5.3 to work"?
Not able to Create QMgr? Was everything working before? |

doogie003,
Did you ever find an answer to the problem? I have run into the same issue. It seems if you install MQ 5.3 on top of W2K3 SP1, everything is OK.
If you install SP1 on a box that already has MQ 5.3 running, MQ will certainly be broken. I have tracked it down to security that SP1 applies, however, I have not found exactly where it's taking away my authority.
I worked with IBM to resolve this problem. After multiple phone calls and a multitude of logs files sent to them this was their official response:
-----
There seem to be quite a few problems reported regarding compatibility
between WMQ 5.3 & W2K3 SP1, many involving the MMC -- as you've
experienced. It's possible the required fix might need to come from
Microsoft.
.
If the customer is using DEP (Data Execution Prevention) settings
enabled in the concerned system. If so we request them to set Data
Execution Protection either to low or disable it and then retry.
.
If the above suggestion fails, as a work around we suggest the customer
to follow the procedure of installing SP1 and then install MQ.
-----
Bascially saying it's not their fault! The above did not solve my problem. I eneded up putting the mqm user in the administrators group which allows MQ to run again, but not an elegant solution.
