1. I have to use P2P and only base MQ API using Java
Is there a mechanism I can fileter messages based on a field in the header in my MQGet call.

e,g... I would have a value set up in the ApplicIdData field/or some other field as "HEADER" and "DATA".

I want to have read only messages with this filed as "HEADER" and ignore "DATA".

But I do not want to read the message and then apply logic to differentiate.

2. Can we add custom defined fields to MQMD

Really? You are asking an extremely basic MQ question. Even if you didn't know the answer, a certified MQ Specialist should know to look in the right manual and find the answer in about 2 minutes.
